I cannot believe it is almost Thanksgiving! I feel like I blinked and the leaves all changed and are now falling of the trees in the wind and rain of the Pacific Northwest. This month, I have been trying to reflect and really be mindful of life as it is NOW. Not a week from now, not six months from now, at this moment that I can control like trying to eat the rainbow every day with my vegetables...
A month ago I finished the dancefitb2b challenge, and it was an amazing month. The challenge came at a very stressful season, my husband was away, my older three were starting new schools and we were still adjusting after our move. I loved how the challenge not only focused on healthy eating and staying active, but also focused as me as a whole person. Whether it was reaching out to a friend you haven’t talked to in awhile, finding a quiet moment during the day to stretch or making sure you reward yourself for taking care of you. When is the last time you rewarded yourself for making yourself a priority?
My plan for my reward was to go get a pedicure, but instead I treated myself to an evening off. No cell phone, not internet or no television, just me sitting down in my favorite chair, with a book I really wanted to finish and a glass of wine. The laundry and cleaning could wait for that one night. When my husband is gone, I tend to spend way to late in the evening catching up on life, and sometimes I need to remind myself that the world will not fall apart if I take a little break.
I challenge you to set a goal for yourself this holiday season. Is it to participate in the in studio DanceFIT 30 class challenge? Is it to schedule three virtual classes for the week? Is it to take five minutes every evening to stretch or lay down in savasanna as a way to recharge? Is it to try a new healthy recipe for Thanksgiving? It can be ANYTHING, and then when you achieve it, reward yourself for it. Make this a time to also be thankful for all the things you can do when you put your mind to it.
You are enough.
