1) NEW CLASS: Hip Hop w/ Abs with Twyla
* This class is suitable to newbie's and hip hop veterans alike..
This fun, high-energy dance workout will make you sweat while learning the latest trends in choreography. Each move is broken down to create the ultimate hip hop routine. An intense and effective 10-minute ab routine is integrated to slim and tone your core. Move and be moved in one hour of total dance!
2) DanceFIT: Stretch & Tone with Gina
*This class is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
Designed by Gina, Stretch & Tone is a total body workout with hints of Pilates and Yoga-style exercises that are designed to stretch and elongate your muscles. Stretch & Tone aims to increase flexibility, improve posture and balance and reduce stress and tension. The purpose of this class is to improve functional fitness, physical appearance and health. Our class begins with a cardio-infiltrated warm-up, a series of upper body exercises using 3–5 pound weights. The crux of the class is centered on mat-work with the intention to strengthen our core, legs and back. We end class with stretches and a cool down. Please bring a cushioned mat, suitable weights and a water bottle.
3) Power Yoga with Nicole
*This class is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
Power Yoga is a rigorous workout that develops strength and flexibility through constant movement. This is a fast-paced class with poses that encourage alignment, flexibility, balance, strength and cardiovascular endurance. This is the perfect opportunity to unwind tight joints, loosen your muscles, learn about pranayama (breathing) and experience the basic yoga asanas. Each student will be encouraged to explore the safe and correct way to work in each asana under the guidance of the instructor.
4) Hips, Thighs and Abs with Resistance Tubing with Gina
*This class is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
Hips, Thighs and Abs will streamline your hips, waist and thighs. We will tone the thighs and abdominal and stretch the hips with our Pilates resistance tubing. Our abdominal training will target our lower, upper and oblique abdominal muscles. After our strengthening session, we increase flexibility with a thorough stretching segment. .
5) Adult Beginning Ballet Technique with Gina
*This class is suitable for dancers and non-dancers alike. Ballet shoes are required.
This class will provide a theoretical understanding of classical ballet positions, balanced with the practical progressions of new exercises, steps, principles, and aesthetics to the beginning or intermediate dancer. This traditional ballet class comprises a barre followed by a center. The time allocated to the barre and center change during the term as the class gains more ability and stamina to perform center steps and combinations. You will receive top-notch training in a casual comfortable environment, and will feel and see the physical benefits of a dancer's rigorous training.
6) Pilates Stretch with Resistance Tubing with Gina
*This class is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
Enjoy a full body workout using resistance tubing to help promote full range of motion, increase flexibility and build muscle without bulk. Through controlled movements, this tube allows you to experience Pilate-style resistance workouts without the equipment. We tone our arms, chest, shoulders, back, legs, glutes and abdominal muscles. Please bring a cushioned mat to class. Purchase your Pilates Versa-Tube® from Power Systems.com, or through me for $20 (includes shipping). Please include this fee with your registration.
7) Cardio FIT- not offered at this time
*This class is suitable for all ages. Must be able to engage in intense cardio activity.
In this power packed class, complex choreography is replaced with skills, drills, circuits and intervals. Cardio FIT is a combination of strength and cardio exercises that is sure to boost your energy and increase your endurance while building muscles and burning maximum calories! Get ready for cardiovascular drills that will consist of kicks, jumping, punches, lunges, jumping rope, running, and other various types of calisthenics exercises. The second half of class is structured on our mats with excercises intended to target our abs, back, glutes and legs. Please bring 5 pound weights, an exercise mat and a jump rope. (When you step on your rope, it should reach under your arms.)
8) DanceFIT for Kids: Tiny Ballerinas- not offered at this time
*This class is suitable for children ages 2.5-3.5 and an adult must accompany their child.
Each Tiny Ballerina class is thematically based and the dancers are led through a series of stretches, movement stories and various dance games. With creative movement using scarves, beanbags and parachutes, the tiny ballerinas develop motor coordination as they run, leap, stretch and move to the music. The tiny dancers will transform to fairies, princesses, animals, and super heroes. Through this role-play they will learn the introductory ballet positions and jumps.
9) DanceFIT for Kids: Pre-Ballet
*This class is suitable for ages 3-4.
Ballet is an excellent way for young dancers to explore movement, develop motor skills and build physical strength and coordination. Pre-Ballet will enhance their fine and gross motor skills as they plie, tondue, leap, stretch and move to the music. In this class, the dancers will learn how to use body actions to communicate an image, idea or feeling. They are introduced to the concepts of basic ballet movements, and they gradually learn the discipline expected in the ballet studio.
10) DanceFIT for Kids: Ballet I
*This class is suitable for ages 5-7.
Ballet I introduces dancers to proper technique, studio behavior, attentive focus, musical awareness and movement discipline. This curriculum is geared around developing physical strength, ballet posture, flexibility and simple barre exercises. They will learn the positions of classical ballet and will be gradually introduced to new skills, vocabulary and positions on a week-to-week basis. Dancers will stretch and strengthen their muscles and imaginations as they build body awareness.
11) NEW CLASS: Hip Hop & Children's Yoga Combination (1.75 hrs)
*This class is suitable for ages 4.5-8.
Elementary Hip Hop taught by Twyla (4:00-5:00pm)
This fast paced fun class concentrates on hip-hop and the latest dance moves, introduced in an age appropriate manner to students. During class students are taught a combination, or series of hip hop moves, exposing them to many different styles of hip hop while helping them to learn the combination skills needed to pick up choreography.
Yoga taught by Sarah Sadie (5:00-5:45pm)
A perfect way to relax after hip hop! Kids lengthen and strengthen their bodies with energizing flowing sequences, balancing poses, breathing exercises and simple relaxation techniques. Non-competitive and fun, students develop strength, flexibility, concentration and confidence. Partner poses and yoga activities will build trust and positive communication. Please bring a cushioned mat and a water bottle.
