Favorite Classes- New and Old

6FIT is a great way to try new classes and great motivation to continue to take old favorites. I love the variety of classes at DanceFIT, but tend to take a class, love it and stick with it and forget to try new ones. My schedule is a lot more limited right now compared to past 6FITs, so I end up picking classes solely based on when I have availability. I's allowed me to take some old favorites, but also try new ones. Each class helps in different ways, so it's nice changing things up this time around.

Here are a few of my current favorites:

BalletFIT /BallteFIT Express - Natick Studio
BalletFIT is a good mix between stretching and cardio. It's an all over workout which I like/need. This was the class I started with at DanceFIT a few years ago and it's still a favorite. After 10 months off, my legs really shake when working at the barre! I like the variety within the class with the mix of cardio, barre work, abs, arms, cardio, etc. I feel like I'm pushed to my limits with each move. Sometimes it's through shaking legs at the barre or having to push through a plank or pushing through more ab work. I can feel that I'm getting a great workout immediately. I  also like how you can modify depending on your level of fitness. Pre-baby I was in much better shape and I still had an amazing workout and felt pushed, but in different ways. Gina and the other teachers modify moves for everyone who needs it. This is the kind of class you feel sore after, but in the best possible way since you know you've just had a great workout!

Pilates with Props - Natick Studio
Pilates is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I've taken it in the past, but didn't appreciate it as much as I do now. One of the top reasons I joined 6FIT is to get back to my pre-baby weight/shape. This class is just what I need right now. It is so good for your core. Part of the class description states, "Using these props will challenge your mind, body and core giving you a more intense workout." It is an intense workout and I really have to push through it, but I know it's just what I need for my core right now.   It works on other areas as well, but that's definitely where I feel it the most, but I also see my legs shaking during certain moves! I feel more accomplished after finishing this class than any  other right now since it targets an area I'm really trying to focus on.

Zumba- Natick Studio
Cardio, especially jumping has been a bit painful for me, so I have to modify the cardio segments in many of the other classes I take. I love zumba because it's a great cardio exercise, but has minimal jumping. It's so much fun, that I don't even realize I'm doing cardio.  I have terrible coordination, so it takes me a bit of time to pick up new moves, but Kayte in the Natick studio is so good at breaking down the steps and makes it easy to follow along - even for someone like me. I was really happy to see some of my old favorite songs still in the mix when I started back this month. For regulars, the class is a nice mix of familiar songs and new routines. It makes joining class time after time really enjoyable.  For new-comers, everything is new, but you can quickly catch on since Kayte breaks things down and there are often regulars you can follow along with, too!

Piloxing - Virtual
Piloxing has quickly become another favorite cardio class. Growing up, my favorite workout was tae-bo and this slightly reminds me of that with the boxing moves, but has the added benefit of including pilates which gives a new spin on it.

I love the mix between boxing and pilates. It's great cardio and core work. It's another class that makes me feel really accomplished after completing it. It gives a really intense, sweaty workout, but is really enjoyable!  I also appreciate how encouraging Megs is. She is great at giving modifications which have been really helpful right now to still get the benefits when I can't do a specific move.

Core & Stretch - Virtual
I took Megs core and stretch class the first week of 6FIT. After not working on my core for over ten months, it felt so good to take this class! Its a slower paced class that is really relaxing while still giving great results. I could feel the benefits of the core work the next day.

What are your favorite DanceFIT classes? Have you tried anything new during 6FIT?
