Hi everyone my name is Christina but everyone calls me Chrissie.  I am the mom of two boys and the wife of a really tall guy named Dan.  In my spare time I work full time in Wellesley MA.  My life is perfectly imperfect while I try to balance it all.  While I was gearing up to write this I decided that for everyone to understand why I wanted to take this journey I needed to take you back to where it all began.

This was me pregnant with my first son (photo credit: Teresa Sweet):

Prior to becoming pregnant I was a typical woman.  I was active, healthy-ish, and whatever I happened to eat or drink easily came off by ramping up my exercise or cutting back on the crab rangoons at 1:00 AM.  Then I became pregnant 5 years ago.  I was so excited to be a mom and almost equally I was excited to EAT!  My diet consisted of the 5 major food groups: French Fries, mini rolos, Cheetos, ice cream and bagels.  It was a glorious time of love and stained orange fingers.  Luckily after having my first son I quickly became pregnant with my second, so the joy of mini rolos every night while watching TV continued.  You see it’s a proven fact that mini rolos make babies smarter.  I swear, look it up!  Unfortunately both my babies had a rough start and I have spent the better part of the last 4 years in hospitals and doctors’ offices, so my bad habits from being pregnant never really stopped.  The realistic part of me knew I was on a bad path with my health but given the choice of making a dinner or ordering food after a long day of dealing with sick kids and work, pizza always won.  Then right before Christmas I was shopping and caught my reflection in the J.Crew window display.  Right there amongst the cashmere and adorable scarfs I was looking at someone I didn’t even recognize anymore.  My clothes were ill fitting, I looked exhausted and I am pretty sure I forgot to brush my hair that day.  I went home that night and told Dan that it was time to make some changes. I didn’t want to feel this way anymore and my family deserves the best me I can give them.   So here I am.  A few things you need to know about me before we move on.

  • I like to sing.  Our house is like a living musical.

  • I watch the Big Bang Theory every day.

  • I think garlic makes everything taste better.

  • When I retire I hope to become a backup singer and tour the world with my DTMS

  • My family is my biggest accomplishment and what makes me the happiest.  So let me introduce them.

This is Dan; I affectionately refer to him at DTMS.  We have the typical love story.  Boy and girl meet.  Boy starts telling girl a story.  Girl starts chugging a bud light because she had a long day at work.  Boy finishes story.  Girl burps loudly in his face by accident.  I wish you could have all seen how stunned he was but even more the smile on his face.  I instantly fell in love with him b/c at that moment of horrible embarrassment he thought I was the best.  When we die simultaneously at the age of 106 and 100, respectively, I know that I will have lived my life with my soulmate and my greatest support.

Picture
This is Colin; he is 4 years old and the first thing I have ever done perfectly.  He is my little sensitive soul who loves nothing more than jumping high and having fun.  He is my little partner in crime and you will most likely see him joining me in workouts at home.

Picture
This is Owen; he is two and my little spitfire.  His goal in life is for me to allow him to jump off the arm of our couch and firmly stands on his belief that he will not get hurt.  This little guy is probably the funniest kid I know and can sing the ABC’s like a champ.  He will be featured in my food pictures, little dude loves all food!

Picture
This is Winnie Cooper.  She is five and pretty much runs the show in our house.  You will see her mostly while I do virtual classes because she lies down on the couch perfectly in line with the camera so everyone can see her.

This is me today.  I am so excited to share this adventure with all of you as I find health, not only physically but in every facet of my life.  My two major goals over these next 6 weeks are to show that health can be a part of everyday life even if you have a full time job and a full time family.  Also to do a backbend in Emily’s virtual yoga class on Mondays.

Wishing you all 6 weeks of health and no orange fingers!

Chrissie
