Supporting the 24-Hour Athlete: 50 min Nutrition Workshops led by Gina
When athletes think about “performing at their best,” nutrition is often the missing piece—especially for busy kids, teens, and families juggling full schedules. This is true across the board—from the field to the gym to the studio—but it’s especially important for dancers, whose athleticism is so often overlooked.
Fueling your body isn’t about restriction or perfection—it’s about support, energy, and feeling strong and confident in your body. In my workshops, I work with all athletes—with a special understanding of dancers—to explore what it really means to be a 24-hour athlete. We talk about how everyday choices around food, hydration, sleep, and recovery directly impact stamina, focus, strength, and overall performance. I keep the conversation upbeat, relatable, and judgment-free.
We talk about real life...long rehearsal days, back-to-back games, quick turnarounds, and favorite foods. Athletes reflect on their own habits and walk away with simple, realistic ways to feel more energized and supported. My approach is rooted in body positivity and balance: all foods fit, and food is meant to fuel—not control—your life.
This is especially meaningful in dance spaces, where conversations around body image can be challenging. I focus on helping athletes appreciate what their bodies can do, not just how they look. We break down the basics—carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats, and hydration—in a way that makes sense for growing athletes. I emphasize the “adding in” approach...building balanced meals and snacks that support performance, without taking away the foods they love.
Athletes already put in so much work in the studio, on the field, and in the gym—nutrition should be a tool that helps them feel strong, recover well, and show up with confidence wherever they perform.
