Building Athletes
Saturday, June 11 & 18 4-6 PM
$60 for both workshops/ $35 - for 1

Gina Fay, Owner of DanceFIT has teamed up with her hubby, Chris Fay, the General Manager of Frozen Ropes and designed a 2 hour intensive geared for young athletes. Believe it or not, there are many similarities between ballet and sports. Many of the same muscle groups are used, both require finesse, strength and balance in bursts. You've likely heard many times before how ballet can benefit football players and in this workshop we will show young athletes how this cross-training really is beneficial to athletes on the field. NFL Hall of Fame member Lynn Swann even credits his graceful performance in games in part to flexibility that he learned from ballet training and other dance classes, adding that this training helped him achieve body control, balance and a sense of rhythm and timing.

*Geared for ages 5-8. Highly recommended to attend both workshops! $60 for both, $35 for 1 *includes a healthy snack

*Dress in activewear and bring sneakers!

This is an indoor/outdoor workshop. The outdoor training will take place on the  field behind our studio. If it is raining we will stay inside for our drills.

Private Ballet Lessons with Ms. Gina

Picture
The afternoon begins with a 30 minute ballet conditioning workout followed by a 75 minute classical ballet class.  We break for a healthy snack (provided by DanceFIT) along with a nutrition seminar focused on foods to eat before & after dance class. The afternoon will be spent learning 2 dances from the classical ballet The Nutcracker.  Parents, please arrive promptly at 5 PM for pick up and stay to watch the choreography the dancers learned.

Private dance work is designed to fit the specific needs of children. Some of the reasons that children study privately with Ms. Gina are:
  1. To help a child "catch up" with their ballet peer group and strengthen their understanding of correct ballet placement, alignment, and technique so they can be placed in a proper class for their age group.
  2. To get a child "ready" for an audition or the next level of ballet.
  3. To address special needs of children who require strengthening in certain muscle groups: to correct feet that turn inwardly; to help a child's gait; to aide a child in feeling more physically self-confident; and to bring a child a heightened awareness of their body in space. This helps a child feel more "at home," more graceful and more in control of their body.
Gina's unique background as a choreographer, dancer, fitness instructor, movement specialist, mother, and ballet teacher helps make her work with children very focused, fun, playful, and highly creative.
