An interview with our Fitness Manager & FlowFIT Instructor, Sandra
Describe a FlowFIT class: FlowFIT is a yoga class but we move to the beat of the music! We throw in a little bit of pilates and core work and a bit of arms, but all yoga inspired with fun upbeat flowing music.
What's your favorite thing about teaching FlowFIT & Why? I love the FEELING of flowing with everybody together. In person or virtually, there is a special magic of everybody flowing through beautiful sweaty yoga poses together to the beat of the music - it’s very powerful.
How has FlowFIT changed your life? FlowFIT is amazing if you are new to fitness/yoga or it it’s something you do everyday. The very first training I received as an instructor was from a format that was similar to FlowFIT (combining yoga with music). It started my path as a fitness instructor, which led me to eventually get certified in both my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification and in Pilates Teacher Training as well. The amazing power and feel of teaching FlowFIT kick-started my entire fitness career!
Favorite FlowFIT move/song right now? My favorite FlowFIT pose right now is anything that flows into Atlas, but also I’ve been really into the Warrior 3 balances. My favorite song is totally our new flow - specifically the Grateful Dead song… I’ve been wanting to flow to the Dead for years now and love that it’s an all standing flow. So fun!
Can you modify FlowFIT if it feels too hard, and how do you do that? There are tons of modifications for everything in FlowFIT - this is a great class for beginners because of this. Yes we move to the music, but many clients choose to take certain sections a bit slower to feel their own pace. I also give out lots of modifications as I cue - and if you have any specific injury or concern I am happy to help you modify around that as well. :)
